Lift
Lift is a portable shelf designed to display books and magazines. Lift is not freestanding, so any wall can serve as its support. Two zigzag plywood columns form the main structure. Wooden and copper bars connect the columns and hold magazines, while yellow steel trays support standing books. The trays become narrower towards the top. Lift measures 2000 mm in height and 600 mm in width and weighs 23 kg, so one person can carry it. The design avoids ornamentation and reduces the number of components by using existing walls.
Lift Portable and Adaptable Shelf by Shiva Pouryousef Khameneh was identified as a grand illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. Lift Portable and Adaptable Shelf received the Bronze A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2020. The A' Furniture Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design recognition program which honors outstanding design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
