The “H Chair” is a selected piece of the "interval" series by Xiaoyan Wei. Her inspiration came from free-flowing curves and forms in space. It changes the relationship of furniture and space by offering a variety of potentials to improve the user experience. The result was delicately made to balance between the comfort and the idea of breath. The use of the brass rods was not only for stabilization but also to deliver visual diversity to the design; it highlights the negative space made by two flowing curves with different linearity for the space to breath.
H Chair by Xiaoyan Wei was identified as an innovative representation of industrial design by the A' Design Award. H Chair received the Bronze A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2020. The A' Furniture Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design award which celebrates outstanding design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
