Xanxan
Xanxan is a shelf with customizable configurations, designed to reduce transport and storage space. The design consists of two anchor posts to which a web of strings is fastened. A simple mechanism allows the user to adjust the tension of each string and to create a straight support surface. Xanxan holds the same items as a standard shelf and can also be used as a hanger. Compared with a standard shelf, Xanxan uses seven times less wood, needs nine times less storage space and weighs four times less. The anchor posts are made of maple wood.
Xanxan Shelf by Carles Marquina has been featured as an innovative representation of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Xanxan Shelf was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2017. The A' Furniture Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design recognition program that celebrates outstanding design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
