The Fortunate Ruyi Chair
The Fortunate Ruyi Chair is a chair inspired by the Ruyi motif, a traditional Chinese symbol of good fortune. A classic chair shape forms the structural basis and is combined with a simplified Ruyi pattern. The pattern is duplicated and flipped, then overlapped and fused to form a curved seat and legs. Irregular curved lines, inner curves and outer tips create a sense of flow and an asymmetrical balance. The chair measures 500 mm in width, 600 mm in depth and 500 mm in height. Traditional culture is joined with modern aesthetics.
The Fortunate Ruyi Chair Furniture by Tzu Wei Lin was selected as a grand illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. The Fortunate Ruyi Chair Furniture received the Bronze A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2023. The A' Furniture Design Award is a highly prestigious international design competition that celebrates superior design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
