Brahma Meditation Chair

Brahma

Brahma is a chair designed for meditation and for sitting cross-legged. The backrest has a protrusion under the lower back and a defined bend and tilt, so additional cushions are not needed. The wide seat allows the knees to stay within the seat plate when the legs are crossed. The frame is made of bent-glued plywood, foam rubber and upholstery, and the legs are made of solid beech. The collapsible legs are attached to the frame with four bolts, so the chair stays light and portable. Brahma places meditation within the modern interior as a distinct piece of furniture.

Brahma Meditation Chair by Ilya Legchatov has been highlighted as a grand example of industrial design by the A' Design Award. Brahma Meditation Chair won the Iron A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2022. The A' Furniture Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design award which recognizes excellent design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
